Description
Summary:Until recently, stress analysis on a welding component still done by manual calculation method and based on standard. If the welding component become more complex and difficult, the problem will arise in the analysis with manual calculations. Therefore one of the way to solve the problem that occur on manual calculation is by using numerical analysis method. However numerical analysis method isn’t covered in the standard.

This final project will analyze the stress distribution on the model that given the critical load based on AWS Standard D.1.1-2015 where the critical load value is obtained through manual calcullation based on the standard. The value will be input into simulation using ANSYS Workbench software so that the stress distribution data can be obtained an the relation between manual calculation method and numerical analysis method can be obtained.

Then by also using specimen testing method for lap joint welding type, the relation between the simulation results and test results can be obtained through correction factors to the simulation results where there are limitations that can’t be taken into account inte simulation model of 0.49 to the simulation result.
