Summary:Bandung City has variety of creative industries, one of the creative industry is in the field of fashion. Local brand Wellborn is a creative industry in Bandung that sells variety of fashion products, one of them is T-shirt. Young people in Bandung like T-shirts as casual fashion style. Surrealistic graphic design on T-shirt is unique and different from other local brands in Bandung. Wellborn’s creativity with good quality and unique design make Wellborn be favored by young people, therefore it is necessary to reveal the meaning of graphic design on the T-shirt through the extraction of ideas. <br /> <br /> The research method is descriptive qualitative method. Research stages are observation, interview, literature study, documentation. Object studied are the surrealistic graphic design on Wellborn T-shirt 2011-2017 collections. The samples of data are selected using purposive sampling. The analysis examines visual elements (typography, illustration, color, and layout) and meaning using The Iconography Theory of Erwin Panofsky because it is related to meaning, history, event and affirmation to T-shirt designer. The purpose of the research are to find out the characteristics of visual style and the meaning of graphic design on Wellborn T-shirt which have distinctive features and association with Wellborn’s brand spirit. <br /> <br /> Surrealistic graphic design on Wellborn T-shirts is connected with Wellborn’s brand spirit which is urban streetwear with surreal character that combines “illogical things”. The result of the research on iconography study of surrealistic graphic design on Wellborn T-shirt in Bandung (2011-2017 collections) based on the Iconography Theory of Erwin Panofsky is that there are three stages of interpretation that can be derived: pre iconography, iconography and iconology. The style of surrealism that began its emergence in the 1920s is a movement associated with dreams, fantasies, peculiarities, the preconscious and the subconscious. Then it is represented in graphic design on Wellborn T-shirt with contemporary surrealistic style associated with science and mythology, science fiction, technology, dreams, history, time, universe and other imaginative things, such as Wellborn icon. They are presented with an incongruous combination and unexpected juxtaposition associated with surrealistic. The surrealistic graphic <br /> <br /> design of the Wellborn T-shirt has the meaning of freedom of thought because there is freedom of imagination, timeless surrealistic style and surrealistic style as differentiator. They show Wellborn’s characteristic and brand spirit.
