Separator aslo act as moving way of lithium ion battery form catoda to anoda and vice versa. Polyolefin is a material group of polymers that most using as ingredient of battery separator because it has high electrochemical stability. But thermal stability dan wettability characteristics of polyolefin is low that caused separator don’t work optimally. Cellulose is an alternative that could use as ingredient of lithium ion battery separator because it has high thermal dan chemical stability properties, good wettability and safety to environment. In this research, battery separator from cellulose of algae Cladophora was made. The extraction of cellulose from algae Cladophora done with alkalisation of NaOH 15% liquid, bleaching and hidrolysis of H2SO4 1M. Then cellulose powder was made to battery separator by solution casting and done SEM, FTIR, XRD, TGA, wettability and temperature stability testing. The results of testing was cellulose separator has more 1m size of porous, good wettability, higher thermal and chemical stability than comercial separator celgard. From the result, cellulose of algae Cladophora can use as alternative ingredient of battery separator making. text
