Law Number (No). 6 of 2014 on Village, grants the villages an authority to self regulation. The existence of islamic boarding schools in rural areas becomes one of the potential development agents. Al Ittifaq Islamic Boarding School in Alamendah Village, Rancabali District, Bandung Regency becomes a good example as it has led Alamendah Village to a strong agribusiness center in the Bandung area. How religious agencies gives impact on the lives of Alamendah Villagers is an interesting process to study considering there are many boarding schools in rural areas in Indonesia. <br /> <br /> The methodology applied in this research is an explorative method using the theory of rural development, social cohesion, local wisdom, learning, Al-Quran dialectics and society as well as network-actor theory approaches. The results of the study could be a contribution to development of religion-based rural areas in Indonesia. Through this research, it is found that rural development is never purely local, since it shapes up local-global relations led by both human and non-human actors. Interaction, learning and application of local wisdom encourage and strengthen the social cohesion of the Alamendah Village community. Frictions in society continue to occur, leading to many negotiations testing the intensity of the cohesion. The commitment to carry out Islamic teachings by utilizing existing technical objects has given a new meaning to religion in the life of Alamendah Villager. It forms a learning pattern based on religious source. Al Ittifaq Islamic Boarding School, therefore, has worked as an agent of development through social ideological movements. <br /> <br /> Keywords: Local, Social Cohesion, Local Wisdom, Religious. text
