Church X recognizes that the future of the church must be carefully prepared, because the future of the child is determined how his childhood life must be through the way of educating the child. <br />

Being a Sunday school teacher does not have a formal standard and the limits of educational background, because Sunday school is a service ground that is based on the calling of heart and as a volunteer to serve God. This does not mean that Sunday school is a learning program that there is no foundation of vision and mission. However, teachers should have good self-commitment, competence, and teaching ability that meet the needs of the child. <br />
<br />
Church X Bandung has a training program set up to foster and equip Sunday school teachers. However, based on previous experience the Sunday school teacher feels that there is a difference between the activities and the briefing material presented to the Sunday school teacher with the purpose of training. Actually the church often thinks that guiding the Sunday <br />
<br />
school teacher does not really matter. So often the training with the concept that is not matching on target and the result in the performance or learning process is not maximum. <br />
<br />
Therefore, this study aims to determine the type of competence that should be possessed by the Sunday school teacher and how to develop it in teaching and educating children to make Sunday school performance more running effectively. This research uses narrative method by understanding the perspective of resource based on story (narrative) about Sunday school from teacher, child, parent, and pastor that delivered through interview. The interview was conducted by asking questions devoted to evaluating the performance of the Sunday school based on 3 of 4 steps of performance evaluation from Kirkpatrick: reaction, learning, behavior, and outcomes. <br />
<br />
The results of the Sunday School performance evaluation show that Sunday school teachers need training to improve the teaching quality. If the training has succeeded in upgrading skills in a particular area of expertise, they feel that the competence of the Sunday school teacher increases. So the need for Sunday school teacher training in Church X for the debriefing of a teacher's competence in a communicative and interactive child teaching method. During this time, the training was done with less of target that is with methods that are not in accordance with the needs of Sunday school teachers and speakers who are less competent in delivering the materials of the Word to the children. <br />
<br />
Researchers recommend a solution for Church X to conduct regular training to find out the competencies required of current teachers and how to improve Sunday school's performance. This activity is conducted with a training method that focuses on the knowledge needs of Sunday school children, teaching facilities and methods, and provides competent speakers to improve the quality of teachers in teaching activities.
