Summary: | PT XYZ is the only aircraft manufacturer in Indonesia. The company applies made-to-order system, which means they only produce when they receive production orders from their customers. PT XYZ takes financial, time, and resources aspects into consideration in evaluating an aircraft manufacturing project’s performance. However, existing condition shows that the company does not monitor its project’s financial performance regularly and systematically. This often leads to projects spending much more expenditure than it is budgeted to.

To solve the problem, this research conducts a business intelligence system design, with helping project manager and Director of Finance to monitor and evaluate projects financially as its main objective. The design process consists of: (1) determining the system’s functional and non-functional requirements, (2) designing data warehouse conceptual model, (3) designing ETL (extract, transform, load) process, (4) designing OLAP schema, and (5) designing performance dashboard.

The designed system is then verified, validated, and evaluated. Verification process shows that the system is capable of fulfilling functional and non-functional requirements, while validation process concludes that the system can be applied and used to solve the identified problem. By implementing BI, PT XYZ can retrieve required information in much shorter time. However, the system still has flaws and shortcomings that need improvements to enhance its overall quality in the future. |
