Summary: | As an alternative method to reduce carbon dioxide emission into the atmosphere, underground storage of carbon dioxide is regarded as a feasible method to reduce global warming effects in accordance to Kyoto protocol. Further development of carbon dioxide underground storage is carbon dioxide injection by means of enhanced oil recovery in order to increase the economic value of carbon dioxide. Based on actual well data from field “G”, we construct a model of carbon dioxide injection on a full scale EOR demonstration project to verify the economic feasibility of investing in this project. The reservoir model is based on previous works from Geophysical team. Two injection patterns are observed, five spot and nine spot injection are used in accordance with the capacity of injected carbon dioxide, which is 800 tonnes /day (approx. 15.2 MMSCFD). Based on simulation study from geological model, 5 spot injection pattern is regarded as a feasible case for this project. Further studies including scenarios involving WAG (water alternating gas) should be discussed in further studies. |
