Description
Summary:Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that can cause complications if not treated properly. BPJS

Kesehatan is a Social Insurance Administration Body which focuses on health insurance, implemented

a Prolanis (Chronic Disease Management Program) for patients with type 2 DM in order to achieve

optimal quality of life with effective and efficient cost. Puskesmas as one of the first-level health

service facilities has an important role in the implementation of prolanis. The better the patient's

knowledge about DM, it’s expected that the higher his/her adherence to therapy. It also correlated

with improvements in blood sugar levels. This study was an observational study with retrospective

and concurrent cross-sectional design located at Puskesmas Talaga Bodas and Pasundan in February-

April 2018. This study included the analysis of knowledge levels, adherence levels, and postprandial

glucose levels of DM Prolanis patients at both Puskesmas. In addition, this study also analyzed

counseling needs for patients and survey of Puskesmas’s preparedness to organize counseling

services. Knowledge level, adherence level, and counseling needs were assessed based on patient

interviews, while GDPP levels were obtained from Prolanis Book and laboratory outcomes. The study

showed a correlation between knowledge level and adherence level (p = 0,005), but there was no

correlation between adherence level and GDPP level (p = 0,193). Based on the results of the

questionnaire, more than 70% of respondents from each Puskesmas need drug counseling services.
