ON THE EXPLORATION OF THE PERFORMANCE OF LOCALIZED SURFACE PLASMON BASED OPTICAL SENSING USING SILVER NANOTUBE
Surface plasmon resonance phenomenon is known for its tunability advantageous for optical sensing applications. The sensing performance, along with the tunability, can be enhanced through the appropriate combination of geometry and material used as the building block of a metallic structure. The cur...

The sensing performance, along with the tunability, can be enhanced through the appropriate combination of geometry and material used as the building block of a metallic structure. The current study is devoted to exploring the optical sensing performance on gases and liquid samples using a cylindrical dielectric-core metal-shell (DCMS) system. The variation on the geometrical parameters shows consistent improvement of sensing performance with decrease of both shell thickness and dielectric core size. Further, sensing with complementary configuration is also carried out by taking the benefit of having a cavity in the DCMS system, i.e. the analyte is in the core region. Contrary to the conventional sensing configuration, the complementary setup exhibits increasing trend of sensing performance for higher refractive index. text |
