Description
Summary:Reliability was used as a measure the success of a system should properly work within a specified period. Heavy equipment in the mining area such as dump trucks or excavators were maximum operated with a huge utilizing. The pace of the utilizing and the condition of heavy equipment operating were the most influential factors of those heavy equipment reliability. In this research, a two-dimensional failure model was developed through the bivariate approach using (AFT) model which in this model the pace of the utilizing and the condition of heavy equipment operating was likened the stress level that affected the reliability of the heavy equipment. AFT model that was used would produce an optimal limit of warranty. Its delimitation was considering two types of consumers, namely the consumer 1, who reached the limit of warranty period in advance while consumer 2, who reached the limit of utilizing in advance. Classification of these types of consumers was due to the limit of warranty was impossible to achieve simultaneously. A two-dimensional warranty was implementing the treatment action form of preventive maintenance. It was given in order to postpone a product failure so that it reduced the warranty costs. The concept of virtual age and virtual usage were used in determining an optimal limit of warranty after doing the PM action. An optimal limit of warranty after doing the PM action was obtained by assuming the virtual limit was an optimal warranty limit before doing the PM action. Some numerical examples were given to illustrate how the affect of the magnitude of utilizing pace to the determination of an optimal warranty limit and a number of failures.
