Summary: | Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) is a resonance phenomenom between electromagnetic waves (light) and electrons on a metal surface that produces oscillations of electrons on the metal surface. When plasmon waves are formed, the boundary field forms a very strong electric field, which can be useful in the process of light absorption or light excitation. In recent years, SPR Biosensors are increasingly being being developed for biochemical and chemical biomedical. SPR waves can be generated with couplings such as prisms and gratings (grating), or with special structures such as waveguides or nanostructures. The purpose of this Final Project is to study the making of a one-dimensional grating structure with sub-micron period and analyze the SPR wave generated in the structure based on the results and analysis using the Multiple Wave Analysis (RCWA) method. The principle of this method is to find the solution of the Maxwell equations, which have been formulated first in matrix form. Meanwhile, the function of the structure field wave is expressed in the Fourier series, which is suitable for analyzing the studied periodic structure. In this study, three different types of dielectrics were used, there are air, olive oil, and rhodamine solution in P.E.G 400. Then, the photoluminescence characteristics of the rhodamine B solution above the grating were tested. The structure studied is a dielectric-metal grating structure with a periodicity of 700 nm and 500 nm of gold layer thickness of about 50 nm. From the simulation results, the results show that the wavelength of the SPR shifts to a larger wavelength as the angle of incidence increases with a different type of dielectric will produce a different SPR wavelength. From the simulation results, show that the wavelength of the SPR shifts to a larger wavelength as the angle of incidence increases and with a different type of dielectric will produce a different SPR wavelength. Furthermore photoluminescence after the addition of rhodamine B solution has enhancement intensity. |
