Description
Summary:
Ascorbic acid, known as vitamin C, plays a very important role in human metabolism. However, ascorbic acid can not be synthesized in human body. We have to obtain it from our daily diet. Ascorbic acid can be found in fruit and vegetables. Nowadays many supplements containing ascorbic acid are available in the market increasing demands on the development of analytical methods for ascorbic acid. Amperometric method provides good sensitivity and selectivity for ascorbic acid determination. In this research, we developed polymer-modified carbon paste electrode (CPE) for amperometric determination of ascorbic acid. Two layers of polymer were used to modify the CPE. The first layer attached directly on the surface of CPE was a non-imprinted poly(methylene blue) and the second layer was molecularly imprinted poly(glutamic acid). At pH of 4, good linearity of ascorbic acid measurement was found in the concentration range of 10-6 M-10-2 M. Uric acid and dopamine interfere ascorbic acid measurements. Amperometric determination of ascorbic acid in real samples showed accurate results and in accordance with those of spectrometric method.
