Summary: | Indeed there are bunch of methods that is used to join two separated part, one that we familiar with in our society is Welding. Welding are available in various type with various performances either. One of the most important aspect of welding is their strength or best known as their performance to hold those two parts.

In order to figure out the strength of a welded part, a stress analysis must be executed. Stress analysis can be done in various method, because of the budget limitation, we chose laboratory test to do this stress analysis. Laboratory test consists of manual calculation, numerical analysis, and using the testing machines.

We use two different load condition, in which consists of unqualified load position based on AWS D1.2-2014. In order to find the cause of the V-Groovee Welded Butt Joint to be failed and cracked, we must find the critical load by manual calculation. Then, those critical load will be inputed to ANSYS Workbench for the base data of numerical analysis.

Manual calculation as the sole primary standard, will be re-validated using tensile strength test to figure out the strength of the welded structure based on AWS D1.2-2014 Standard. From previous tests, it is expected to be some improvements in this thesis. |
