Summary: | With the growing economic growth in the world and the increasing number of people living in urban areas, solid waste problems become one of the prominent issues and that situation also emerge in Jakarta. The data shows that the number of waste production getting higher each year. On the other hand, the capacity of landfill that serve Jakarta getting decreased due to limited land to develop. To solve the problem, Jakarta need some innovation in order to reduce the amount of solid waste transported directly to landfill site without any treatment. One of the innovation that come from community is Waste Bank, a solid waste management program with community-based approach, especially for non-organic waste. As a community-based program, public participation through recycling behavior is one of the most important thing to support the waste bank performance. Nowadays the waste bank number in Jakarta has grown significantly, yet public participation still become one of the problems. As time goes by, it is found that some members of waste bank project who became less active or no loner active in the project. Hence, this research aims to know the current performance of the waste bank program, level of members activity and identify factors that influencing the level of members activity on the program. So that the government can makes some policy to increase public involvement on the waste bank program. |
