Description
Summary:Solar cell is non-linear power source that can convert sun radiance power into electricity directly. Testing is necessary to determine cell’s and panel’s performance and characteristics especially I-V curve, short circuit current, open circuit voltage, maximum power, fill factor, and efficiency. They are two method to test solar cell and solar panel, Indoor and outdoor method. Indoor measurement method is preferred due to controllable test environment, high reliability, and high reproducibility. However, Solar cell and solar panel has different performance compared to indoor measurement method when installed at outdoor condition Because of that, various research project were conducted to test solar panel and solar cell at outdoor condition. However, they were mainly focused on maximum power and efficiency. Therefore, this research is aiming for developing I-V curve measurement system at outdoor condition. The system use programmable constant current dummy load to trace I-V curve of solar panel. The system also has sun illuminance and temperature measurement system. Measured I-V curved then corrected to standar test condition with IEC 60891 procedure. From the results, the system can measure I-V curve of solar panel at outdoor condition. It also can be concluded that solar panel characteristic parameters are decreasing when measured at outdoor condition compared to calculation from datasheet.
