Description
Summary:
2-Methoxyisobutylisonitrile (MIBI) or 1-isocyano-2-methyl-2-methoxypropane is an organic ligand which can form 99m technetium sesta MIBI complex. This complex is used as contrast agent for diagnosing of infarc and cancer in CT scan. The synthesis of MIBI consists of 3 steps, the first step is preparing MIBBr (2-methoxyisobutylbromide). Second step is interconvertion of bromide to isonitrile. The last step is formation of Tc complex. In this research, we have successfully done the formation of MIBBr using industrial grade crude C4 and tert-butanol as the source of electrophilic butyl. Crude C4 is compound mixture which has four carbons. Methanol acts as the nucleophile. The electrophilic addition reaction isobutylene were carried out completely in crude C4 atmosphere. Characterizations and the analysis of the products were performed by gas chromatography (GC), and NMR ( 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR). GC Chromatogram shows MIBBr was the major components of the products with content 56,1 % weight (MIBBr from crude C4) and 69,8 % weight (MIBBr from tert-butanol).
