In order to complete the characterization of <sub>(x(3))</sub> with its imaginary part, we have also studied the absorption effect which is dominated by the Two Photon Absorption (WA) process. As a part of this study, we have set up the Z-scan experiment and carried out the measurement on toluene as a sample. The result obtained is n<sub>2</sub> = 3,4 10<sup>-14</sup> cm<sup>2</sup>/W based on the assumption of perfect Gaussian beam profile, and n<sub>2</sub> = 2,6 10<sup>-15</sup> cm<sup>2</sup>/W when a top hat beam profile was assumed. text
