| Summary: | Bandung is a city that has many cultural heritage buildings, especially cultural heritage buildings that built during dutch colonialism era. From 1920s until 1930s Bandung city begin to develop rapidly and so Bandung nicknamed as Parisj van Java, later this era is called Bandung tempo doeloe. But as the city keep developing, the existance of cultural heritages gets dissapearing day by day. Compared to other big city in Indonesia, Bandung is kinda late in doing preservation of cultural heritage existance. Whereas, these cultural heritages are one of Bandung city characteristic and can be utilized in many sectors. Most of Bandung people, especially younger generation, has lack awarness to preserve the existance of cultural heritage. Lots of younger generations tend to not care about the history and existance of cultural heritages in their own city. This issue related to the way of introducing cultural heritage in school. History lesson, often seems boring and way too much dictation from textbook without involving the students. There are plenty of ways in introducing cultural heritage to young generation, and one of them is through a popular media such as comic book. Reader's participation is pretty much needed in reading comic, foremost in reading wordless panels. Lots of wordless panels can be find in silent comic, that mainly use visual in conveying information to the reader. Without text, reader is given more chance to imagining, exploring, and entering the world inside comics story. Some conclusion and concept for visual process is based from doing texts analysis from historical literature and also visual analysis from silent comic and historical comic. Suitable way of choosing and using panel is applied in order to convey the right information to readers. Other than that, background image and detail objects are not only as a background or complementary objects but also as a part of the story. Information, story, and environment of Bandung tempo doeloe cultural heritage can be conyeved to the readers by applying those concepts. |
