Summary: | The order of creative economic development in Indonesia was published in 2009 through Presidential Instruction Number 6 of 2009 concerning the Development of Indonesia's Creative Economy and the establishment of Indonesia Creative Economy Agency in 2015. Indonesia's creative economy is made up by creative economies in regions spread throughout Indonesia, one of which Cirebon District as it is mentioned in the Cirebon Region's Long Term Development Plan 2005-2025 with the highest potential is a commodity from the rattan industry which is part of the craft sub-sector in Indonesia's Creative Economy classification. This study aims to identify the role of the rattan industries as creative industry towards the economy of Cirebon District. This study uses literature study approach and descriptive approach with secondary data collection method. Identification of the role is carried out by identifying the characteristics of the rattan industries and calculating the contribution and impact of the rattan industries there. The analytical method used is GRDP-based analysis, employment, company activities, and the impact on other sectors. The results show that the rattan industries in Cirebon District is in the form of furniture industries and rattan handicrafts industries driven by rattan suppliers, export producers, formal rattan industries, non-formal rattan industries, and general exporters. The most common production system is a subcontracting system with a market share of ± 90% of foreign markets and has problems such as supply of raw materials to exports. Based on GRDP based analysis, employment, company activities, and analysis of impacts on other sectors, it is known that the contribution of the rattan industries is quite large and has a significant impact, so that the rattan industry has an important role for the economy of Cirebon District. However, its weak performance was marked by a contribution to GRDP and exports which tended to decline and the impact was not as significant as the food and beverage industries. <br />
