Due to security issues and consumer

acceptance in the use of synthetic UV filters, studies and research on natural UV filters continue to

be developed. Natural UV filters such as polyphenol compounds, flavonoids, tannins, lycopene, and

essential oils. Flavonoid compounds are widely found in leaves such as rutin as the main compound

in cassava leaves (Manihot esculenta Crantz.) and quercetin in banaba leaves (Lagerstroemia

speciosa L Pers.). Cassava and banaba leaves were extracted with reflux method using 96% ethanol

and fractionated with liquid-liquid extraction method using n-hexane and ethyl acetate.
