A fairly stable synthetic dye compound will be very difficult to degrade naturally and can harm the environment. If the concentration dumped into the environment is high enough then it can raise the value of COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand). One method of processing liquid waste containing dye, is adsorption by using different types of adsorbent. Another alternative type of adsorbent used is clay, this is done given the presence of abundant clay in nature. In this research, the adsorption process using liquid waste containing naphthol dye from batik making process, is with clay adsorbent, with or without modification, and regeneration. While the adsorption isotherm was tested using Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin and Dubinin-Radushkevich models. The experimental result for optimum adsorbent dose on adsorption process was using clay adsorbent without modification of 15 g/L and adsorbent with modification of 20 g /L. The optimum contact time on the adsorption process for clay without modification was for 30 minutes and clay with modification for 60 minutes. In the concentration variation, the greatest efficiency obtained was 97,313% for the concentration 236,790 mg/L by using clay adsorbent without modification, while using clay adsorbent with modification the biggest efficiency 92,563 mg/L for concentration 100,124 mg / L. The corresponding adsorption kinetics is pseudo second order and the isotherms describing the adsorption process is Freundlich isotherms. <br /> text
