As population growth increases, the generation of solid waste will also increase. The generation of domestic solid waste in Cimahi City is 292.56 tons/day. Government of Cimahi City have a plan to replace their previous landfill, from Sarimukti landfill to the Legok Nangka landfill in Nagreg region, because of the limitations in capacity that will cause certain problems. The distance traveled from Cimahi City to Legok Nangka landfill is ± 62 km, this distance is twice further than Cimahi City to the previous landfill which has the distance of ± 34.5 km. One of major obstacles faced of the placement of the landfills outside the city is the transport operation of the wastes and as well as the problem of the higher of transport costs and tends to be an increase in the whole financing costs. Intermediate Transfer Station (SPA) is one of the answers, reducing the volume of solid wastes by processing and compacting the wastes also extending the age of the landfill. In addition, the construction of SPA can reduce the transportation costs. Thus, it is necessary to design a regional scale SPA for Central Cimahi Sub-districts. Based on the results of sampling and calculations, the waste generation in Central Cimahi Sub-districts currently reaches 839 m3/day with the largest composition of organic waste (55.8%), plastic (16.8%) and paper (9.3%). Based on the processing potential, several alternative facilities are determined, the main facility are compaction device, belt conveyor for sorting inorganic waste, unloading-loading area and ramp.

text
