Thermal comfort becomes an important issue in the tropical environment for the outside environment as well as inside. The existence of the sea-land breeze is potential to improve the quality of outdoor microclimate. Wind speed and good permeability plays an important role in lowering or expel air temperature and humidity, so it is necessary to understand the arrangement of building masses, vegetation and ground surface material selection to respond solar radiation and air movement. The purpose of this thesis is to design resort hotel that thermal environment is at comfortable conditions so that the use of outdoor space can be optimized. <br /> Design stage begins with the design of initial resort hotel model without trees and simulation using ENVI-Met 3.1 to determine the quality of the outdoor microclimate. At a later stage the model be improved by adding trees and change the order of building mass and ground surface material. From these simulations, known role of building mass and tree shading, the choice of appropriate ground surface material and cooling caused by the movement of the wind. Building mass and tree shading in resort hotel design on the Dompak Island proved more effective than the ground surface material effects and wind speed in improving the quality of outdoor microclimate of resort area in the coastal region. <p align="justify"> text |
