Description
Summary:Shape Memory Polymers (SMP) are polymers that macroscopically capable to change to a temporary form. At certain temperaturs, the polymer is pulled (loading) until it is deformed beyond its elastik point. The polymer is then cooled and unloaded so that the polymer has a temporary shape. The polymer is in the temporary shape until received a thermal stimulus, after which it will return to its original state (recovery). In this final project, a 1-dimensional SMP proposed by G. Scarlet has been studied. In the elastik region, the larger the test temperatur given to the system, the greater the maximum elastik strain is. Young modulus of the polymer is higher as the test temperatur is lowered. When polymer is loaded in the plastic region, the value of young constant will be changed as the parameter changed. in this study, the writer was able to show the tendency of SMP material to return to its original form. Memory properties of SMP is influenced by thermomechanical stimuli and the temperaturs.
