In the effort to increase the service up to 100% in drinking water based on Quantity, Quality, and Continuity, Local Water Company (PDAM) Surya Sembada will build one additional WTP in Karangpilang, namely Karangpilang WTP IV with capacity of around 2000 Liter Per Second (LPS). Using the projected population of the Arithmetic method and the calculation of water requirements, it is found that in the next 20 years, Surabaya must meet the water requirement of 2795 LPS, even after being supplied with water supply of 1000 LPS from Umbulan Springs project. Therefore, the development of WTP with 2000 LPS capacity can be justified. Compared to Peraturan Menteri Kesehatan (Permenkes) 492 of 2010, the parameters in raw water from Mas River which is used that must be removed are turbidity, Suspended Solid (SS), Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Nitrite, Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Organic Substance (KMnO4), faecal coli, and total coli. The selection of alternative unit sequences was performed using a technology selection matrix from Babbitt in 1967. Using Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method, it was found that the alternatives of selected units for processing were aeration, pre-sedimentation, coagulation, hydraulic flocculation, high rate settling using a tube settler, and a quick sand filter. In addition, a reservoir unit is also made to accommodate the production water before being distributed.

text |
