In practice, a triggering model is used in determining future programming, so the concept of planning is only in the short term and can not estimate the need for long term programming.

In this study used the concept of Remaining Services Life (RSL) as a decisionmaking tool in programming. The RSL is defined as the number of years based on the traffic load where the pavement is still functionally & structurally functional. By using a functional and structural assessment, the maintenance can be done in more detail in accordance with the needs of pavement.

To determining RSL, this study used Patterson method and Survivor Curve method (functional) and AASHTO method (structural). The use of this methods is based on the availability of data in Indonesia and the ease of application so that it can be applied immediately. Indonesia Road Management Systems (IRMS) as a road condition database can be used by survivor curve method and also Patterson method. While some AASHTO regulations have been adapted into technical rules in Indonesia, making it easier to use them.

The results of the study show that the use of Patterson's method can predict accurately the value of IRI next year, but in the long term calibration is required. The AASHTO method is influenced by many factors, so there is a need for better data accuracy. While the survivor curve method is influenced by the IRI value of the analyzed segment. From the three segments analyzed, there is a difference between functional and structural residual age. This leads to differences in the need for future handling.
text
