Summary: | Controversy in human ecological about relationships between human and natural generates various practical approaches confronting obstacles. Domes New Nglepen Village is a case study used to explain this problem. Domes New Nglepen Village located in Sumberharjo Village, Prambanan District, Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. Domes settlements which is built to relocate residents affected by earthquakes and land subsides. Domes New Nglepen Village are highlighted by various parties (academics, scientists, anthropologist, politicians, and others) because it is one of the pilot projects in the disaster-prone areas to create opportunities for contestation among various actors involved. This research applies Actor-Network Theory which guides by doing exploration, it is used for gain an understanding of underlying reasons, opinions, and motivations. Using actor-network theory to identify certain local groups then led to functional uncertainties of the Dome buildings. Study literature on Human Ecology using perspective of environmental, anthropological, and economic is to describe the tendency to do dichotomy in the conceptualization of human / society and the environment. The result of study literature and empirical case indicates that human and environmental dichotomies in the thoughts of human ecology not only cause the theoretical analytic difficulties, but also cause the practical consequences. Therefore, improvement efforts in the settlement development program require the development of an adequate theoretical framework, which is free from the dichotomy. <br />
