Summary: | Library is one of the state institution which is built to provide educational resources, cultural

preservation in the form of archives and books, additional information, and also recreation for its

users. The Provincial Library should not only work as the resources and references center for all of

the library around the province but also has to survive in the digital era and provide facilities using

the newest technology which is popular and commonly used by the citizen nowadays.

The Central Java Provincial Library has been established and supervising the growth of each

library which is built in Central Java since 1951. Unfortunately, even if the library has become one of

the most valuable resources center in Central Java, the facilities itself needs to be renewed and

revitalized. After observing the condition of the library, the function of the library as a center of

intercommunity interactions in Central Java has not been well contained inside the building. The

users also feel reluctant to visit because the library colletion is considered incomplete, facilities are

not sufficient, and the building itself is considered old-fashioned. Hence, the idea that wanted to be

implemented in this project is focusing on the issues of interaction, preservation, and modernity with

the concept of a ‘Forest Library’ to create a community and cultural archived center based on

information and communication technology. |
