The water quality in residency area around Burangkeng landfill is polluted. This research has been done to understand leachate exposure effect to mice liver and kidney, and also health risk potentiality for community around landfills that consumed contaminated groundwater by leachate. The experiments will be conducted in several stages, characterization of leachate and groundwater, acute toxicity test (LD50) using mice (Mus musculus), sub-chronic test to see the damage of the liver cells and kidney cells, skin irritation test with Draize method, and health risk assessment of people living around the landfill. The results of leachate characteristics showed that, and there are heavy metals in the leachate that is iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), chromium (Cr), lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), and cadmium (Cd). The results of acute toxicity test (LD50) is LD50 apparent where death does not occur until the maximum dose which means leachate does not provide for the acute effects of test animals . Sub - chronic toxicity tests showed that damage to the liver and kidney cells of mice with a 90-day exposure period . Skin irritation test results showed that the primary irritation index on the back skin of mice was 0.00. Hazard highest index value of 1.031 and the lowest was 0.090 so it can be concluded that groundwater around Burangkeng landfill has a potentiality to cause chronic deseases if it’s consumed at certain amount and frequencies.<p align= "justify"> text |
