The new Mannich base 1-((2,5-dioxopyrrolidin-1-yl)(4-methoxyphenyl)methyl) urea (SMBU) includes an organic compounds based on Mannich base. In this study, SMBU was successfully synthesized from a mixture of succinimide, 4-methoxybaldaldehyde and urea using Microwave Assisted Organic Synthesis (MAOS) method and confirmed by characterization of melting point, TLC, FTIR and NMR. SMBU has melting point at 97-98 oC, and has one spot for KLT. The FTIR and 1H NMR spectrum of the SMBU give peaks and signals that corresponding to the SMBU structure. Co(II)SMBU solids is obtained in yellowish green obtained with a maximum yield (without purification) 94.52%, in synthesis condition at room temperature with ligand and salt 3: 1 mole ratio. Based on mass spectroscopy, obtained the complex molecular formula [Co(SMBU)(H2O)2OH]+ at 389,1 m/z. The coordination bonds beetwen Co2+ ion with O and N donor atoms of the SMBU ligand are shown in infrared spectrum where there is a shift to smaller value in the wave numbers in the functional groups C=O and C-N of the SMBU ligands. The maximum wavelength is shown by the UV-Vis spectrum at 274, 319, and 384 nm due to the electron transition of 4T1g(F) 4T2g, 4T1g(F) 4T1g(P), and 4T1g(F) 4A2g. The magnetic moment measurement results ?eff value of 1.71 BM indicating that the SMBU ligand has coordinated with Co2+ ion. The magnetic moment value also shows that the complex compound Co (II) SMBU has five coordination with low spin. <br /> text |
