Polymer flooding will be conducted by adding a certain amount of polymer concentration to injected water to increase the water viscosity and reduce water relative permeability and hence reduce the mobility. Some parameters affecting polymer flooding were identified, such as distance between injector well and producer well, injection rate, reservoir fluid viscosity, polymer viscosity, polymer concentration, reservoir permeability, and polymer adsorption on reservoir rock surfaces.

In this study, polymer flooding will be modeled using analitical approach and numerical calculation to determine oil reservoir production performance. Polymer flooding modeling will be conducted systematically, start with relative permeability model, fractional flow, flow pattern using streamtube approach, and calculation of production performance as well as the recovery factor. This study analyzes the effect of different polymer slug size to the production profile and injection profile as well as the recovery factor in the range of volume of 0.1 – 2.5 PV. The result of this study shows that the use of 0.5 PV of polymer slug is the optimum condition that yiels the recovery factor of 44.51%. text
