Description
Summary:Unit Simpang Ampek is one of PDAM unit in West Pasaman regency, This unit is in the centre of government and residential area, with the highest population and highest population growth rate. Moreover, Unit Simpang Ampek has the highest number of consumer, with 4,116 of service connection from total 7,816 in January 2017. However, sometimes leakage occurs from this connection. This causes this PDAM belong to bad service category with percentage of leakage reaches 55.7% of total distributed water. Due to this condition, PDAM must develop strategy using proactive approach in analysing, design, and management of water distribution using computerizing system and software simulation. One of approaches that can be implemented is District Meter Area (DMA). This study uses 3 scenarios. The first scenario consists of 3 zones with the number of service connection between 700 and 1.800 per zone, the second scenario consists of 4 zones with the number of service connection between 500 and 1.600 per zone, the third scenario consists of 5 zones with the number of service connection between 500 and 1.100 per zone. Base on investment ratio, all these three scenarios are in feasible category with ratio investment 0.6 for the first and the second scenarios, and 0.7 for the third scenario.

Based on the results of technical and financial analysis, DMA scenario 3 was chosen as an effective design applied because in the application of DMA scenario 3, divide the distribution service area of Simpang Ampek into 5 zones. Based on the Epanet simulation result, the Number of Nodes with the pressure below 10 m is the smallest, is 9.6%. In addition, in terms of financial, the implementation of DMA Scenario 3 requires an investment cost of Rp 2,322,150,000, - with NPV, BCR and PP over the 18-year analysis period in a row of Rp 33,065,419,570, -; 1.11; and 10.01 years. The DMA scenario 3 design has a relatively small service zone size to raise awareness of pipeline leakage, active leak repair, simplify
