The Kulon Progo Airport International Passenger Terminal is located in Temon District, Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region. The Kulon Progo International Airport will replace the role of the old Adisutjipto International Airport located in Sleman Regency due to over capacity and its double status as an air force base. The international passenger terminal will accommodate 10 million passengers per year with 9.132 million domestic passengers and 868 thousand international passengers during its first development phase. To serve its passengers, the terminal will have a floor area of 92.000 square meters divided into two floors which serve public, departure, arrival, and operational functions. The first floor will serve as the arrival hall and operational area while the second whill be used as the departure hall. The theme of the design of this terminal will be ‘memorable journey’, which will be applied on several elements, such as the interior, exterior, building mass, programming, and structure of the terminal. In its application, the issue of locality must be taken into consideration, as well as other general issues, such as circulation, safety, security, and accessibility. The locality issue is important to introduce the culture of Yogyakarta to give an unforgettable impression to its users.
