The design of Semarang Marine Aquarium intend to fill this vacant position of aquariums in Indonesia and have three main function; to educate people, to propose an alternative recreation place, and to conserve the marine biotic beneath. This aquarium is located at Marina Beach, West Semarang and directly bordered by Java Sea, which give some advantage such as a relatively flat slope and a presence of the beach to enrich the surrounding. With the size approximately 15.000 m2, Semarang Marine Aquarium would be the largest aquarium in Indonesia. This huge attraction hopefully would increase tourism in Semarang and entice visitors around Indonesia, especially Central Java, East Java, and Eastern Indonesia. With an aquatic journey as a concept, Semarang Marine Aquarium will use iconic and spatial experience approach to maximize the existing potential. For example a plastic and dynamic massing, outdoor attraction, and aquarium interior that will enrich the experience of the visitors.
