Tanjung Emas Port on Semarang, Central Java, is the biggest port in Indonesia that serves as a gate for people to and from Borneo. The title served does not supported by the existing facility, especially on the Hari Raya. In that case, PT Pelabuhan Indoensia (PELINDO) III Tanjung Emas is planning to increase the capacity to 3500 passenger and also increase the facility. The project designed with some planning approaches so that the design can functionally worked and be a landmark. Some of the approaches are functional approach, structural approach, and construction approach. Functional approached is used because there are some additional function to common passenger ship terminal in the check in area, like security check and baggage-handling, and a baggage-claim area. These funcitons have fixed order which may affect the layout of the interior and also the exterior. Structural and construction approach is used because the needs of large space and certain height so bring the sense of spaciousness. That is why the building designed with cable structre system that use a concrete suspended roof. These kind of structure and construction need particular architectural and structural elements which may affect the layout of the interior. Therefore, these approaches may directly affect the form, interior and exterior layouts, and the height of the building. The project has a single mass with cable structure system and concrete suspended roof. Although it has a single mass but it is devided by 5 pylons into 4 parts. These parts serves as check-in area, lounge and waiting area, and baggage-claim area. text |
