Bukittinggi City is one of the city in West Sumatera Province. Bukittinggi has vision to build a city with the spirit of Islam. Bukkittinggi Islamic Center is one form of the program by local government that means to reach the vision. There are quite a lot of schools and Islamic schools scattered throughout the city of Bukittinggi. However, there is no Islamic information center and more comprehensive facility for all ages. In addition, there is no place that can be used as a reference for Islamic activities which can unite the entire Muslim community in Bukittinggi. Therefore, the presence of Bukittinggi Islamic Center will become an important center. Bukittinggi Islamic Center is located on the By-pass road Gulai Bancah, with a land area of about 2.2 hectares. Consisting of the main building of the mosque with a capacity of about 2000 people, libraries, museums, language classrooms, seminar rooms, and a dance rehearsal space. In addition there are also several support facilities such as multipurpose building, TPA / TK, commercial facilities, and a guest house. The location of Bukittinggi Islamic Center is close to the Bukittinggi’s new government center. Surrounding land use are residential and education area which would support the existence of the Islamic Center. Bukittinggi Islamic Center is also planned to be one of the religious tourist destinations in Bukittinggi, therefore Bukittinggi Islamic Center should have a strong character that reflects locality of West Sumatra.
