Description
Summary:Astana Anyar Traditional Market is located at Jalan Astana Anyar, Bandung. The project includes designing for the market, and the block plan of the apartment, to integrate between these two functions. The site is 2,2 ha in area, with 1,1 hectares for the market and 1,1 ha for the apartment. The client of this project is PD Pasar Bermartabat. The obsolete existing building, the muddy and dirty, also the unclear zonation of the commodity and unclear circulation is the main reason for the market’s redesign. But, behind all that, the market still has some potentials. The strategic location, with lots of passer-by, and is passed by lots of public transportation. Moreover, the site of the market is surrounded by local inhabitants’ residences, and the building of the apartment is adding even more potential to this site. The concept of the design takes from the approach of the market’s function as commercial building, the character of traditional market, also the integration between the market and the apartment. These approach are applied to both site and building designs. The function approach is applied to the efficiency aspect of the building, both circulation and the utilities. In this case, the zonation of commodities is very important as it affects both circulation of the visitors and service, also the efficiency of the utilities. The locality is translated in the creation of public spaces for social events and activities for local inhabitants. The locality is also applied to the building by applying local architecture to the building. The integration with the apartment is created by integrating the facilities between both functions, placing it in the market’s buildings. Also by creating open spaces for the inhabitants of the apartment.
