| Summary: | Sultan Iskandar Muda airport in Banda Aceh is one of the gates to get to the western part of Indonesia, especially to the province of Aceh. This airport is an international airport, it flies domestic and international routes and has a passenger terminal building with a capacity of 1.3 million passengers per year on ultimate stage. To accommodate the needs of its users, the passenger terminal has a building area of 15,000 m2 which consists of a public function, arrival, departure, and operational/service. This airport is one of the airport in Indonesia which provide flight for Hajj, while this services is occures on VIP terminal building.
The idea is to design a building which demonstrate modern impression from the outside but has local characteristics inside of the building. The design of the airport terminal uses the standards to calculate and determine the space needed, basically all the terminal building have the same facilities so it needs an identity to distinguish an airport’s terminal in one place to others. Therefore, this terminal is designed with attention to basic standards, but also provides interior elements in the form of local ornaments that represents Aceh locality. |
