PROSES DIFUSI INOVASI KAMPUNG DERET STUDI KASUS: KAMPUNG DERET PETOGOGAN, KEBAYORAN BARU, JAKARTA SELATAN

Increasing numbers of slums in Indonesia, especially in Jakarta has raised complex issues, such as environmental degradation and declining of the city’s image. Among others, there is one innovation has been introduced to solve these problems namely the row village program, or as known as ‘program kampung deret’. Through this program, unorganized slums are rearranged and eventually the health value of the row village has increased. The idea of the row village is a new idea to the community and considered as a successful program. However, there have been no studies about the diffusion of innovation in Petogogan row village so that Petogogan community wants to adopt such innovations. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the diffusion process of row village ideas in Petogogan, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta. The study was done using a mixed methods approach, including either qualitative and quantitative approaches. While the strategy used is sequential explanatory strategy. The data collection is done by interviews with agents of change, observations, questionnaires to Petogogan community as unit adopters and literature review. The data were analyzed using the elements of the innovation process, exploratory descriptive analysis and descriptive statistical analysis. This study shows that according to the success criteria of innovation by Perlman (1993), the row village program has met the criteria so it can be concluded that the innovation idea of a row village is succeed. This row village innovation process has started with data collection and competition to Petogogan community whom conducted by the Chairman of RW which is then submitted to the Regional Government to make Kampung Petogogan as a potential location for village improvement candidate, hereinafter referred to row village program. The diffusion of innovations process that occurred during the program has involved many stakeholders from different levels, from the central government level to the community level in Petogogan. The successful for making Petogogan residents approved the innovative idea of row village is due to the role of change agents and community leaders in Petogogan because they are classified as early adopters who are the first to know the existence of the innovation and have adopted those.
