Summary: | The development of Banda Aceh after the Tsunami disaster has caused many transportation problems, especially traffic congestion in the city's main axes. In addressing these problems, the Government of Banda Aceh plans to develop a new public transport namely Trans Kutaraja. One of the Trans Kutaraja corridors is to connect the City Centre toward Darussalam. However, the limitations of the existing public transport services in the city of Banda Aceh cause people trying to facilitate the movement of their own private vehicles So the development of Trans Kutaraja faced with the challenge of how Trans Kutaraja is able to attract users of private vehicles which are the majority of travelers in the city of Banda Aceh.
To find out how the responses of private vehicle users toward the Trans Kutaraja operating plan, it needs to be assessed response of traveler to Trans Kutaraja service attributes and willingness to use the Trans Kutaraja. Furthermore, it needs to be assessed the links between the traveler response to the Trans Kutaraja service attributes with traveler characteristics and their willingness to use Trans Kutaraja. At the end, the study will discuss the Trans Kutaraja service attributes which are priorities to be changed.
In this study have several public transport service attribute variables that will be used to classify the various estimates of the services that will be offered by Trans Kutaraja. These variables were selected based on the review of the literature on theories related to public transport services. The selected attribute variables are comfort, security and safety, waiting time, travel time, accessibility, and fare. Based on the analysis, the majority of respondents are willing to use Trans Kutaraja. Furthermore, the majority of respondents claimed attributes of comfort, security and safety, waiting time, travel time, and accessibility are in accordance with they had expected. The fare is the attribute that tend to get negative responses and have a relationship with a willingness to use Trans Kutaraja. The fare is also the only attributes that priority to be changed. The most optimal fare scheme is Rp 2,000 for students and Rp 3,000 for public by considering vehicle operating costs and willingness to pay by traveler. |
