Description
Summary:Mangrove ecosystem has the main function as ecological function and socio-economic function. Ecologically, mangrove ecosystems as spawning ground, nursery ground, provide biodiversity as life support systems. Economically, the utilization of mangrove ecosystem is development as an ecotourism that produces commercial benefits for humans as aesthetic pleasures and market of commodity production. The importance of the role and function of the mangrove ecosystem poses a challenge to know how to provide comprehensive value to these benefits. The valuation process is done by giving price (price tag) to the goods and services produced. This study aims to analyze the total economic value (TEV) of mangrove ecosystems, the value of direct value, indirect value, option value, and existences value. The research was conducted in mangrove ecosystem in Karangsong village and mangrove ecosystem in Biawak Island, Indramayu Regency. In this study using qualitative and quantitative methods (mix method). Primary data is directly captured in the field through direct measurement using transect method, and depth interview. Secondary data are conditions of research location, conditions of forest potential, and physical conditions in the area and study of literature from existing research. The sampling population used was the management of Kelompok Tani Pantai Lestari (38 respondents) and Karangsong mangrove ecotourism tourists (26 respondents). The results showed the total economic value (TEV) of the mangrove ecosystem in Karangsong is Rp5.725.163.316/ year, consisting of direct value is Rp1.325.634.596/year (23.1%)from ecotourism and fishery products (non-timber, seeds, recreation, milkfish and seaweed), indirect value is Rp4.389.782.541/year (76.7%) from abrasion retention, carbon stocked, and water intrusion, option value is Rp1.868.384/ year (0.2%) from biodiversity and existences value is Rp7.877.795/year (0.6%) from willingness to pay the community. Total Economic Value (NET) of mangrove ecosystem in Biawak Island is Rp11.776.205.431/ ha/year, consisting of direct value is Rp. 576.224.500,00/year (4%) from ecotourism and fishery products (non-timber, sea cucumber, recreation, crabs, tuna, and kelayar fish), indirect value is Rp11.343.220.931/year (95%) from abrasion retention, carbon stocked, and water intrusion, option value is Rp15.960.000/ year (0.2%) from biodiversity and existences value is Rp40.800.000/year (0.3%) from travel cost method.
