Description
Summary:The congestion occurred in Jakarta is getting worse. The population and private vehicle growth is not equal to the adequate public transportation service. The roads segment growth is not the solution because the infrastructure will displace the public area. The integrated public transportation service is one of the effective solutions in decreasing the congestion in Jakarta. The program to improve the transportation mode, particularly trains, will be implemented in 2020. Tanah Abang Station will become one of the transit-oriented development districts, which is a district that prioritizes the use of public transportation and diminishes the use of private vehicle. This station will only accommodate the commuter line. Tanah Abang Station will be integrated to monorail station and waterbus. However, the functions which are accommodated is not only train station, but also hotels, offices, and shopping area. Connecting the station to other functions inside and outside the site needs to be concerned. Analyzing the train passengers and public user movement, creating the spine of circulation, creating nodes for orientation, and connecting the station to other function are several general design strategies in designing Tanah Abang Station. Design concepts applied are connectivity, flowing, and also transparent, with the main concept “integrating and connecting between functions inside and outside the site”.
