Description
Summary:Indonesian citizen needs for health services has increased over time including service for cancer, number two most killer desease in the world. Since the launch of the government's health insurance, BPJS, the number of cancer patients who go to hospital has also increased dramatically. This is a contrast to the number of cancer hospitals in Indonesia that is currently only three. Thus the addition of the cancer hospital is expected to help health care for cancer patients in Indonesia. West Java is one of the provinces in Indonesia with the highest prevalence of cancer. There is currently an area planned to be developed as A-class hospital in Grand Wisata in Bekasi. The location has good accessibility and it is near to housing area, therefore it is suitable to build a cancer hospital at the site. However, because the location is between the commercial area, designer should pay attention to noise and privacy issues. Space programming and space requirements used is based on the standard C-class public hospitals and references from some standard books, then added with special needs of cancer treatment such as radiotherapy, chemotherapy and palliative unit. Almost every room has its own requirements that need to be examined when designing, for example like the walls in the radiology department should have a certain thickness to block the radiation ray so it will not spread. The initial idea proposed for this project is the concept of HOME or home. This concept was selected because the author wanted to present the home atmosphere within the hospital so that patients undergoing cancer treatment will not feel the stress and trauma of hospital because the atmosphere is warm and relaxing like home. This concept is outlined in the mass of the building, the atmosphere in the space, outer space, façade, color and so on.
