<b>ABSTRACT:</b><br> THE STUDY ON TRANSFER TECHNOLOGY PATTERN AT RUBBER <br /> AND METAL SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES <br /> (Case Study Rubber and Metal SME in Bandung) <br /> <br /> <br /> Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) in indonesia play an important role in the economics. Empirical fact shows that the SME employ the more worker than the big industries do. Based on the fact, it is needed ways to empowering the SME in order to create more working opportunity by establishing new business and market expansion including export as well. The free market has demanded all sectors in economics to produce product efficiently and effectively. But it is uneasy job to achieve the goals. There are a lot of barriers in developing SME. One of those barriers is the limitation in acquiring technologies. <br /> <br /> Many research focusing on transfer of technology had been done by many expert. But those researches had not discusss how a spesific SME acquiring technologies in each business cycle. In this paper, the researcher tries to explore how the transfer technology pattern in each business cycle. By using a case study approach, the aim of this research are identification the transfer technology patternand dominant aspect in transfer of technology, especially in rubber and metal industries in Bandung. Those type of industries are dominating by the extensive use of technology. <br /> <br /> The rubber and metal SME's ability to enhance their technology is affected by internal and external factors. This research tries to find the transfer technology pattern that is suitable for the product characteristic of rubber and metal SME. The other finding is the factor that affecting the transfer of technology process such as : (1) The pattern before establish the business (2) The pattern in the beginning period of the running business and (3) Pattern in the growing period of the business. The most affecting aspect that distinguishes the pattern in each business cycle is the product aspect. This is not meant that there is no influence from any others aspect. <br /> <br /> According to the above description, the study of the technology transfer pattern in SME is needed to give an input for the SME owner as a player in economics, for goverment as a policy maker and for future businessman that wants to improve the entrepreneurial spirit. <br /> <br />
