Summary:As a city that located strategically between Central Java and West Java, Cirebon has been planned to be one of the metropolitan development hub city. To support the plan, one of the most important aspect is a good accessibility from and toward the city. Overland, railway is one of the popular transportation modes to reach the city, so the train stasion became a crucial part of it. Besides, the existing condition of the old station has not meet the standards as the main railway station of the city. The main issues to be responded here are the existing heritage station, circulation, and the integrated function of the station itself, because it is something new in Indonesia. The function of the station is moved to the new building next to the old ones, while the heritage building’s function converted into PT KAI office and a railway gallery. Other functions to be contained in this area are a hotel tower, a commercial retail complex, and a plaza as a public activity place. The station itself is designed to accommodate the needs of the railway activity until 2030, when the number of estimated passengers could reach sixteen thousand people per day. The concept carried on this project is Urban Agora, with the intention of creating a dynamic atmosphere in the area, so the station will be a comfortable place for public activity. The design approach used in this project is contextual juxtaposition by designing a contrast new building using some contextual order from the heritage building. Therefore, the two buildings, the old and the new ones, have their own character without any dominance to each other. The new station will have two entrances, the east side and the west side. These entrances will be connected by a bridge. The form of the bridge is used as a pedestrian connector between the two entrances. As a respond to the heritage building, a link has proposed between the old art deco railway station building and the new modern impression. This link functioned as the gate and the connector for two road separated by the station. To enhance the local image of Cirebon, terracota bricks are used for the hotel facade
