Description
Summary:Biogranular is a microbial aggregation which is formed by selfimmobilization of microorganisms. There are many advantages that can be obtained by using biogranular as a biological wastewater treatment compared to coventional techology using activated sludge. It has good settling ability, high biomass retention time, and withstand high organic pollutant. The aim of this study is to form aerobic granule with variation of settling time. Settling time is one of selection pressure which is very important to form aerobic granular. Therefore, this study is conducted with variation of the settling time (5,10 and 15 minutes). SBR cycle time is 8 hours. Finally, it will be analyzed to determine the optimum condition to form a good aerobic granular. Parameters that will be measured in this research is settling velocity, density, SVI, granule morfology, diameter, and extracelullar polymeric substances. It is known that the optimum condition is using a settling time of 5 minutes in both of gluocse and acetate susbtrate. Granular characteristics formed using settling time of 5 minutes has SVI value of 311.51 m g and 179.69 ml/g; settling velocity of 8.65 m/h and 19.37 m/h; density of 8.49 g/L and 6.89 g/L; diameter of 2.35 mm and 2.75 mm; and aspect ratios aerobic granule of 0.56 and 0.63.
