One alternative to achieve this is to improve the quality of asphalt through modification with the utilization of Polypropylene (PP) as Asphalt Pen 60/70 additive. Asphalt modification will directly affect the rheological properties of asphalt. The addition of PP in Asphalt Pen 60/70 causes the asphalt becomes harder and increases the mixing and compaction temperature, while the addition of grease causes the asphalt becomes softer and decreases the mixing and compaction temperature. Best combination of PP and grease achieved at 6% PP content with 10% and 12% grease content. Based on mechanistic rheology test using DSR can be concluded the addition of PP and grease cause an increase in the value of the complex shear modulus (G*) and decrease in the value of the phase angle (?) thus making the asphalt more elastic, especially at low temperatures. Rheological properties of the AC-WC mixture with PP and grese addition which measured by resilient modulus parameter from UMATTA shows the resilient modulus of AC-WC mixture using Asphalt Pen 60/70 is higher than resilient modulus of AC-WC mixture using PP and grease modified asphalt at all temperature variation. text |

Increasing rate of trip as a result of population growth and technological
development causing reliable and sustainable road infrastructure needs become
higher. One alternative to achieve this is to improve the quality of asphalt through
modification with the utilization of Polypropylene (PP) as Asphalt Pen 60/70
additive. Asphalt modification will directly affect the rheological properties of
asphalt.
The addition of PP in Asphalt Pen 60/70 causes the asphalt becomes harder and
increases the mixing and compaction temperature, while the addition of grease
causes the asphalt becomes softer and decreases the mixing and compaction
temperature. Best combination of PP and grease achieved at 6% PP content with
10% and 12% grease content.
Based on mechanistic rheology test using DSR can be concluded the addition of PP
and grease cause an increase in the value of the complex shear modulus (G*) and
decrease in the value of the phase angle (?) thus making the asphalt more elastic,
especially at low temperatures.
Rheological properties of the AC-WC mixture with PP and grese addition which
measured by resilient modulus parameter from UMATTA shows the resilient
modulus of AC-WC mixture using Asphalt Pen 60/70 is higher than resilient
modulus of AC-WC mixture using PP and grease modified asphalt at all
temperature variation. |
