Description
Summary:Road and Traffic safety issues has been the object of research to identify the causes of traffic accidents, one of which is caused by the road geometric factor. This study aimed to identify the causes of accidents on blackspot locations and provide appropriate treatment alternatives to the locations to reduce the potential of accidents. The research location was blackspot accident locations on nasioanl road Citarum -Rajamandala - Padalarang City administrative boundary with a length of 14.5 km. This road section is composed of segments that have horizontal curves located between the long straight road and a road segment that has some horizontal curves are located adjacent to each other. The data used in this research include primary data, i.e. the volume of traffic, traffic conflict data, vehicle speed data, while secondary data was traffic accidents data of the Indonesian National Police and road data from the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing. 5W + 1H approach used in the analysis of these roads indicate that traffic accidents occur because of the high-speed vehicle (speeding) and limited visibility. Sta 2 + 600 to 2 + 800 was the road segment which has horizontal curves located between the long straight road that, and there were 7 accidents within 2013-2014, while Sta 5 + 200 to 5 + 700 is a segment that has 4 horizontal curves, which are located adjacent to each other, and there were 3 accidents within 2013-2014, defined as the location of detailed research analysis. The research results showed that the cause of the accident at Sta segment 2 + 600 to 2 + 800 is due to a highspeed vehicle (speeding), while Sta 5 + 200 to 5 + 700 is because of the limited visibility. Some alternative treatments of safety issues were made. Installation of traffic signs and road markings and improving visibility for the segment Sta 2 + 600 to 2+800, as the best alternative that provides value Crash Reduction Factor (CRF) of 0.89 and the value of Benefit Cost Ratio (BCR) of 2.31, while the segment Sta 5+200 to 5+700 with the installation of traffic signs and road markings, improved visibility, widening of road shoulders and widening of roads that provide value CRF of 0.89 and BCR of 1.01. From the analysis of all available data indicates that the safety analysis requires geometrical data, traffic data and detailed accident data with the use of the same data coordinate and unit to obtain more accurate results.
