One of the businesses which is in line with those to be run by small/middle scale businesses is the businesses in the field of maintenance. In this field, the characteristic of having a relatively high technological brink is found. Therefore it is not easily mastered by nonexperts and the process of operation is flexible or may be separated. Besides that, maintenance services requires close relationship between human and products in which skills, carefulness, creativity, and innovation become important and critical factors In running a business in the field of maintenance, support in the form of appropriate entrepreneurship nature and characteristics is needed in order to run and develop the business satisfactorily. The purpose of the research was to identify entrepreneurship characteristic in general, in the field of maintenance, in running the business based on differences found. The research was conducted by studying several cases of entrepreneurs who are able to survive up to the present time, as those who are able to take opportunity in the field of maintenance. Data collecting was conducted by interviewing and observing 6 research samples in order to find important aspects of characteristic possessed. Characteristics of entrepreneurs in general were obtained through similarities in characteristics of entrepreneurs at the stage of business selection, and business process and development. The result of study showed the presence of entrepreneur characteristics in general, in the field of maintenance (5 kinds of characteristics were related to the nature of entrepreneurs, while 5 kinds of characteristic were related to business dynamics). Besides that, differences in entrepreneur characteristics were observed from various differences that took place. The result of study was also used to draw a conclusion on maintenance service companies. It is expected that from the study we are able to learn how to identify opportunity in the field of maintenance, and identify the characteristics of entrepreneurs in general, in running the business of maintenance. thus many people will be interested and are able to obtain business opportunity in the field of maintenance.
