To reduce the corrosion rate, corrosion inhibitors were used at certain concentrations and continuously injected along with the fluid flow through the pipelines. In this study, two curcumin-like compounds, namely 1,5-bis-(4-methoxyphenyl)-penta-1,4-dien-3-one (1) and sodium salt of (E)-6-(4-methoxy-phenil)-4-oxo-hexa-1,5-dien-2-olate (2) were synthesized to be used as corrosion inhibitors of carbon steel at 1% NaCl environment. Compounds 1 and 2 were synthesized by reacting 4-methoxybenzaldehyde with acetone and 4-methoxybenzaldehyde with acetylacetone, respectively, at room temperature for 10 minutes. Structure of compound 1 and 2 were confirmed by the measurements of FTIR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, and LC-MS spectroscopies. Based on the analysis of 13C-NMR spectra, the compound 1 contained a ketone group (?: 189 ppm) and benzene moieties (?: 114-127 ppm), while the compound 2 contained a conjugated ketone group (?: 191 ppm) and benzene moiety (?: 114-128 ppm). The corrosion inhibition efficiency tests of compounds 1 and 2 were conducted using EIS and Tafel methods at temperature of 45 °C in medium of 1% NaCl. The maximum inhibition efficiency of compound 1 at a concentration of 4 ppm by 41,29% at 45? and compound 2 at a concentration of 2,5 ppm was 87,31% at 65?. Based on the results of Tafel measurements, compound 1 is an ohmic inhibitor (mixed inhibitor), whereas compound 2 is a cathodic inhibitor. text
